The newly upgraded Golden Square Reserve in thriving Hoppers Crossing is now open for people to enjoy, thanks to support from the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
Sarah Connolly MP, representing Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane, and joined by Kaushaliya Vaghela MP officially opened the new $666,000 reserve this week.
The reserve upgrade received $325,000 from the 2018-19 round of the Growing Suburbs Fund, which supports the creation of community connections, enhanced services, and provides greater opportunities at the local level.
The revamped reserve has a new playground, large kickabout area and basketball half-court, alongside picnic areas, new landscaping and plenty of shade for the summer.
The upgrade was completed by Wyndham City Council, which contributed $341,000 towards the project.
The Growing Suburbs Fund is a $325 million investment over six years in critical local infrastructure in Melbourne’s diverse and fast-growing outer suburbs.
Since 2015, Wyndham City Council has received more than $27.5 million in funding to support the delivery of 20 priority projects.
