Ms VAGHELA (Western Metropolitan) (12:54): My constituency question is directed to the Minister for Equality, Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services, the Honourable Martin Foley. My question relates to the minister’s portfolio responsibilities for health.
Twenty-eight Victorian hospitals and health services will receive a share of $30 million under a new clinical technology refresh program to upgrade their existing IT infrastructure. Hospitals across Melbourne will share $21.67 million of the funds, while $8.32 million is allocated to regional and rural health services in Victoria. My question to the minister is: can the minister update me on how the clinical technology refresh program benefits the hospitals and the residents of the Western Metropolitan Region?
Reply: Martin Foley MP, Minister for Health, Minister for Ambulance Services(07 April 2022):
Replacing the most at-risk, ageing network technology infrastructure maintains operational stability at Victorian public health services, so that they can deliver patient, diagnostic and other clinical information to the point of care for clinicians. This program reduces the risk and impact of unplanned technology outages and downtime and mitigates the risk of system failure.
